What is the NOVA Original Series?
The NOVA Original Series is a heritage re-release of two classic NOVA chucks — the G3 and the Supernova2 — that originally defined NOVA's reputation in woodturning. Both have been reintroduced due to popular demand, unchanged in the ways that matter most.
What's the difference between the G3 and the Supernova2?
The G3 is designed for lathes up to 350mm (14") swing and is ideal for small to medium bowls, boxes, and spindle work. The Supernova2 is built for larger lathes from 350mm (14") to 500mm (20") swing, suited to large bowls, hollow forms, and heavy-duty turning. If you have a bigger lathe and tackle larger projects, the Supernova2 is your chuck.
Are these chucks compatible with my existing NOVA jaws?
Yes. Both the G3 and the Supernova2 are fully compatible with all NOVA accessory jaws and insert/adaptor systems. If you already own NOVA jaws, you can use them straight away with either chuck.
What thread options are available?
The G3 is available in four thread options: Insert Version, 1"×8tpi, M33 ASR Eurolock, and 1¼"×8tpi. The Supernova2 is available in three options: Insert Version, M33 ASR Eurolock, and 1¼"×8tpi. Choose the thread that matches your lathe's spindle.
What is the Companion Kit, and who is it for?
The Companion Kit includes the chuck body, chuck key, fasteners, and manual — without a jaw set or woodworm screw. It's designed for existing NOVA chuck owners who already have these accessories and simply want to add another chuck without duplicating what they already own.
What warranty is included?
Both the NOVA Original G3 and NOVA Original Supernova2 are backed by a 10-Year Warranty. NOVA by Teknatool International has been engineering premium woodturning machinery since 1978.
What is Tuff-Lock™ gearing?
Tuff-Lock™ is NOVA's proprietary gearing system used across their chuck range.
