Which Grinding Wheel is best for Sharpening High Speed Steel?
White Aluminium Oxide wheels are designed for efficient grinding of tool and high speed steels. The cutting particles cut faster because of their individual hardness. The bond allows blunt particles to break off, and therefore exposes fresh grit particles.  Also, because they cut faster, they tend to cut cooler.

Grey Wheels or Carborundum Wheels are designed for mild steel or non ferrous metal grinding and won't do a good job on your high speed steel.
